Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer PCE is high-performance water-reducing admixutre, also known as PCE superplasticizer, polycarboxylate ether (PCE), high-range water reducer (HRWR).
PCE is a comb-like copolymer synthesized via free-radical polymerization. Its structure consists of:
- A hydrophobic polycarboxylic acid backbone (e.g., methacrylic acid, acrylic acid).
- Hydrophilic polyoxyethylene (PEO) side chains grafted via ester or ether linkages.
- Optional functional groups (e.g., sulfonic, phosphate) for enhanced performance.
- Tunable molecular weights (20,000–100,000 g/mol), allowing customization for specific applications.
Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance: Clear to amber-colored viscous liquid.
Solubility: Fully miscible in water; pH 6–8 (20% aqueous solution).
Density: 1.05–1.15 g/cm³ at 25°C.
Freezing Point: ≈ -5°C (depends on formulation).
Thermal Stability: Stable up to 50°C; avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
